SUMMARY

In 2015, we began a thorough evaluation process to establish the School´s strategic priorities for the upcoming years. In the first stage leadership and instructional staff were involved. Feedback from parents was also taken into account. The result of the process was a Strategic Canvas which presented the school situation in 2015 and the School´s Vision for 2020. At Oakhill we are committed to promoting a school culture which fosters engagement of all stakeholders towards achieving our mission. Last year, the decision to engage in the AdvancED improvement journey, gave a new impulse to this process, allowing us to include more stakeholders (students), use tools to improve the recollection and analysis of data (SQF, Surveys, ELEOT observations) and compare to quality standards. As a result of this process we designed a new Strategic Plan (2019-2021) using a planning methodology called "Dirección por misiones" (Carlos Rey, Pablo Cardona). In the process we were assisted by an external advisor form the Territorial Team. The final version of the plan was assessed by Strategic Planning Experts form Finis Terrae University (Chile) who gave feedback and made suggestions for its implementation. Our 2019 Improvement Plan establishes priorities for this school year (February to December). In addition, we are working in the implementation of the Semper Altius Schools´ Curriculum (Sunrise) which defines the pedagogical approach, instructional and evaluation practices and students profile in alignment with our Mission and Ideario (School´s Educational Philosophy).To accompany this process, the Leadership Team underwent a self-evaluation process that allowed it to identify traits, management styles, strengths and opportunities for growth. The commitment of the Leadership has been essential to build trust in our community.

Senior School Workshop

Last May, we gathered our Senior School students during a whole morning, to engage them in our journey of improvement. Through different activities they reflected on how the School Mission comes to life, how they can contribute to its achievement and which aspects we need to keep working on. Students engaged with responsability and worked collaboratively providing valuable feedback.

Lunch with School Captains

The School´s Directors shared a lunch with the School Captains so as to listen to their perceptions on the workshop. Preliminary results obtained from the surveys taken that day were shown and discussed with them.

In this event, a group of students, representing each form, shared with families the Community Service Projects they are participating in during this year. In this way families are involved and invited to keep supporting these iniciatives, fostering social commitment within our community.
